Deviled Eggs: June 21st, 2010

Every Monday morning, Crazie Talk culls Duke basketball news, articles, and videos into a half dozen of the best “Deviled Eggs” on the interwebs.

Here are this week’s best.

Duke Commits and Targets Shine at USA U18 Trials

Incoming freshmen Kyrie Irving and Josh Hairston will be representing the United States at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Austin Rivers, Quincy Miller, and Amir Williams, all Duke targets in the Class of 2011, will be joining Irving and Hairston on the team.

Duke-UNC Pits Irving-Barnes

Oh, what could have been. Instead of playing on the same side of an absolutely loaded team, Kyrie and Harriet will be pitted against one another in college basketball’s fiercest rivalry. As if Duke-UNC needed any more intrigue.

Smith and Singler are Back for More

Interesting to hear that Nolan would have considered leaving had Kyle declared for the NBA. These guys are something special.

One on One with Elton Brand

Although his career path has not followed the trajectory of his former AAU teammates, Lamar Odom and Ron Artest (both of whom earned themselves NBA Championship rings earlier this week), Elton Brand has still been in the NBA for a decade. He came back to campus to coach at K Academy last week.

Mike G Doin’ Work

2011 commit Mike Gbinije did work this past weekend at the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp. He averaged 14 points per contest after measuring at 6’7. He’s flying under the radar, but he looks to be quite the player by the time he arrives in Durham.

*   *   *

I know, I know, that’s only five…but this absolutely absurd Kyrie Irving mixtape should brighten up your Monday morning.

Oh, and if you can’t get enough of that, you can check out another here. This kid is going to be ridiculous next year.

Deviled Eggs: June 14th, 2010

Every Monday morning, Crazie Talk culls Duke basketball news, articles, and videos into a half dozen of the best “Deviled Eggs” on the interwebs.

Here are this week’s best.

Nolan, Seth, and Kyle impress at CP3 Elite Guard Camp

Chris Paul hosts this annual event for the best high school and college guard prospects in the country. Duke was represented well, as Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith, and Seth Curry were the cream of the crop at the event.

Nolan was all smiles at the prospect of next year’s team. In Mr. Smith’s words, “we’re gonna be loaded.” You can check out interviews with Kyle and Seth as well.

Coach K Academy

Coach K’s annual fantasy camp attracted ESPN’s own Gene Wojciechowski. The camp, which also features former Duke stars as camp coaches, allows for an immersion into Duke Basketball for old folks willing to drop a few grand.

ACC reshuffling?

A well written piece describing the potential repercussions of Nebraska’s move into the Big 10 (Big 12 now I guess). Could Duke potentially be shifting conferences?

Brian Zoubek at 76ers Camp

How good is Brian Zoubek? The 7-footer recently showed off his constantly improving game for the 76ers at their training camp.

Coach K Makes Bank

Coach K- bringing newfound meaning to “Get money, get paid.”

Quincy Miller- Getting Buckets

Finally, check out this new mixtape with highlights of some of the top high-school ballers from across America at Nike EYBL. Duke-recruit Quincy Miller holds the spotlight from 1:38 – 2:10, and he does not disappoint. For even more coverage of Quincy “Youngtruth” Miller from EYBL, check out this video.

Deviled Eggs: June 1st, 2010

Every Monday morning, Crazie Talk culls Duke basketball news, articles, and videos into a half dozen of the best “Deviled Eggs” on the interwebs.

Here are this week’s best:

1. National Champions! Again!

Dana O’Neil with a great piece on Duke’s first ever championship in lacrosse. The past five years have been a remarkable journey.

2. Duke Offers Alex Murphy and Shabazz Muhammad

As we mentioned yesterday, Murphy and Muhammad are the top priorities for Coach K in the Class of 2012. Duke has a great shot at both of these guys.

3. Austin Rivers Talks Recruiting

Rivers was kind enough to share the latest news on his recruitment while in Los Angeles for the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. Although Austin says he’s wide open, Duke is a major player here. Rivers will make the call in August.

4. Duke Only Bond for J.J Redick and Shelden Williams

The Boston Globe had some interesting insights as to the relationship between the two most recent jersey retirees in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Maybe it’s me, but I found it a little odd that J.J and Shelden, for all they went through as classmates, were never really close off of the court.

5. Is Quincy Miller the next Durant?

The folks at March to March aren’t so sure. He’s struggled at times against elite competition this summer, but has also been unstoppable at a few events. He’s prided himself in being similar to Durant, but he’ll have to prove that he’s worth the hype on the AAU circuit this summer.

6.Plumlee and Zeller: Friend and foe?

Marshall Plumlee (brother of Duke’s Mason and Miles) and Cody Zeller (brother of UNC’s  Tyler) are AAU teammates, with brothers on opposite sides of the rivalry.
